Europe power industry contracts in October 2021: Spain leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Spain led the activity in October 2021 with 20 contracts and a share of 29.9%, up 24% over the previous month and up 5% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Sweden with seven contracts and a share of 10.4% and the UK with seven contracts and a share of 10.4% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 32 contracts, followed by the UK with 22 and Spain with 19 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in October 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 31 contracts and a 50% share, followed by solar with 25 contracts and a 40.3% share and hydro with three contracts and a 4.8% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in October 2021, with 27 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (24) and Generation Equipment (22).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 25 contracts and a 37.3% share
- Project Implementation: 24 contracts and a 35.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: nine contracts and a 13.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: five contracts and a 7.5% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 4.5% share
- Others: one contract and a 1.5% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Glennmont Partners (United Kingdom): 900MW from one contract
- Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 581.57MW from 15 contracts
- Sowi Kosovo (Kosovo): 102.6MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Orsted (Denmark): 900MW from one contract
- Naturgy Renovables (Spain): 221.4MW from three contracts
- Ignis Desarrollo (Spain): 144.11MW capacity from four contracts.
