Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in September 2021: Pakistan leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Pakistan led the activity in September 2021 with 59 tenders and a share of 32.4%, up 5.8% over the previous month and up 64% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the Philippines with 30 tenders and a share of 16.5% and Bangladesh with 21 tenders and a share of 11.5% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 97 tenders, followed by Pakistan with 36 and the Philippines with 24 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in September 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 37 tenders and a 52.9% share, followed by thermal with 24 tenders and a 34.3% share and hydro with four tenders and a 5.7% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in September 2021, with 72 tenders, followed by Power Plant (44) and T&D Project (35).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 96 tenders and a 52.7% share
  2. Project Implementation: 66 tenders and a 36.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 11 tenders and a 6% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: eight tenders and a 4.4% share
  5. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.5% share.

Power tenders in September 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. NHPC (India): 1,045MW from two tenders
  2. NTPC (India) and Ministry of Energy, Uzbekistan: 300MW from one tender
  3. Gujarat State Electricity (India): 135MW capacity from two tenders.
