August 2021 has seen a decrease of 7.78% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 12.77% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 2.25% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 37.18% in August 2021, a 39.16% drop over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 23.93% in August 2021, marking an 8.2% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 23.08% in August 2021, a 38.64% drop from July 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 32.75% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s power industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista posted 182 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a decline of 40.52% over the previous month, followed by Energisa with 21 jobs and a 23.53% growth. Enel with 19 IT jobs and Iberdrola with 5 jobs, recorded a 46.15% rise and a 16.67% drop, respectively, while Emera recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s power industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 94.02% share in August 2021, a 32.52% decrease over July 2021. Argentina featured next with a 3.42% share, up 14.29% over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 1.28% share, a flat growth compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.94%, down by 43.54% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 20.51% share, registered a growth of 41.18% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 8.55% share, down 16.67% over July 2021.
