North America power industry contracts in August 2021: The US leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the US led the activity in August 2021 with 58 contracts and a share of 95.1%, up 3.6% over the previous month and down 8% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with two contracts and a share of 3.3% and Mexico with one contract and a share of 1.6% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 63 contracts, followed by Canada with six and Mexico with one contract.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in August 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 37 contracts and a 74% share, followed by wind with ten contracts and a 20% share and thermal with one contract and a 2% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in August 2021, with 32 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (10) and Power Plant (9).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 26 contracts and a 42.6% share
- Supply & Erection: 20 contracts and a 32.8% share
- Project Implementation: nine contracts and a 14.8% share
- Electricity Supply: six contracts and a 9.8% share.
