Slemon Park Microgrid Project development status
The development of Slemon Park Microgrid Project was started in 2019.
Contractors involved
Government of Canada, Government Of Prince Edward Island and Green Infrastructure have partnered with Government of Canada to construct and complete the Slemon Park Microgrid Project.
Additional information
– The Canadian government said it will invest CAD 12.3 million (USD 9.3m/EUR 7.9m) in a 10-MW solar-plus-storage project on Prince Edward Island.
– Funds for the construction of the Slemon Park Microgrid Project will come from the Green Infrastructure Stream (GIS) and the Smart Grid Program, both part of the government’s Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.
– The Prince Edward Island government is contributing CAD 12.7 million.
– The micro-grid project will occupy an area of 100 acres (40.5 hectares) in the community of Slemon Park.
– Once in operation, the plant will lower electricity costs for the local residents, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to Prince Edward Island’s energy self-sufficiency goals.
