Europe power industry contracts in April 2021: Germany leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Germany led the activity in April 2021 with seven contracts and a share of 12.5%, up 8.1% over the previous month and down 46% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Spain with seven contracts and a share of 12.5% and Finland with six contracts and a share of 10.7% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 47 contracts, followed by the UK with 25 and Spain with 18 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in April 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 31 contracts and a 59.6% share, followed by solar with 16 contracts and a 30.8% share and hydro with two contracts and a 3.8% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in April 2021, with 17 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (16) and Power Plant (13).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 22 contracts and a 39.3% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 15 contracts and a 26.8% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: eight contracts and a 14.3% share
- Project Implementation: seven contracts and a 12.5% share
- Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 3.6% share
- Others: one contract and a 1.8% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 1.8% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- AzerEnerji (Azerbaijan) and The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijan): 230MW from one contract
- Alter Enersun (Spain): 131MW from one contract
- Ovo Energy (United Kingdom): 90MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Abu Dhabi Future Energy (United Arab Emirates): 460MW from two contracts
- Global Energy Services Siemsa (Spain): 131MW from one contract
- Orsted (Denmark): 90MW capacity from one contract.
