Power industry contracts in November 2020: Europe leads global activity
On comparing contracts activity in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 105 contracts and a share of 42.2% during November 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 57 contracts and a 22.9% share and North America with 48 contracts and a 19.3% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 21 contracts and an 8.4% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 18 contracts and a 7.2% share.
On the basis of the last 12-month average, Europe held a lead over others with 163 contracts, followed by Asia-Pacific with 93.

Solar tops by technology in November 2020
Looking at contracts by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 95 contracts and a 44.2% share, followed by wind with 71 contracts and a 33% share and thermal with 19 contracts and an 8.8% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment during November 2020, with 88 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (59) and Power Plant (56).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 109 contracts and a 43.8% share
- Project Implementation: 55 contracts and a 22.1% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 53 contracts and a 21.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 15 contracts and a 6% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: nine contracts and a 3.6% share
- Electricity Supply: six contracts and a 2.4% share
- Others: two contracts and a 0.8% share.
Power contracts in November 2020: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Orsted (Denmark): 960MW from one contract
- Korea Western Power (South Korea): 728MW from one contract
- Furnas Centrais Eletricas (Brazil): 692MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Project one Projco (United Kingdom) and Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Project two Projco (United Kingdom): 1,920MW from three contracts
- Canadian Solar (Canada): 862MW from two contracts
- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (South Korea): 728MW capacity from one contract.
