GE has secured a power generation equipment supply contract from Naepo Green Energy for its new district heating plant in South Korea.
According to the contract, GE will supply its 60 Hertz gas turbine, the 7HA.02, along with its matching H65 generator to the plant located in the centre of Naepo.
Naepo’s new plant will have the capacity to generate 500MW of power, which is sufficient for nearly 125,000 South Korean homes.
GE Gas Power country leader James Kim said: “District heating is a highly efficient energy solution that delivers energy savings and relevant reductions in CO2 and NOx emissions.
“We’re proud to work with Naepo Green Energy to support South Korea’s district heating needs as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. GE’s HA gas turbines are the world’s largest and the most efficient gas turbines, offering low lifecycle cost of electricity generation for 60Hz customer.
“With industry-leading combined cycle capability for district heating operation, GE’s HA gas turbines are a natural choice for this kind of application.”
