Middle East and Africa power industry tenders in October 2020: South Africa leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, South Africa led the activity in October 2020 with 24 tenders and a share of 46.2%, up 1.9% over the previous month and up 41% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Namibia with six tenders and a share of 11.5% and Bahrain with three tenders and a share of 5.8% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, South Africa held the top spot with 17 tenders, followed by Oman with eight and Iraq with six tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in October 2020
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 12 tenders and a 50% share, followed by solar with 11 tenders and a 45.8% share and geothermal with one tender and a 4.2% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Middle East and Africa as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in October 2020, with 19 tenders, followed by Power Plant (13) and Generation Equipment (11).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 27 tenders and a 51.9% share
- Project Implementation: 14 tenders and a 26.9% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: seven tenders and a 13.5% share
