Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in Q3 2020: India leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, India led the activity in Q3 2020 with 69 contracts and a share of 24.1%, up 7.2% over the previous quarter and up 21% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by China with 46 contracts and a share of 16.1% and Australia with 39 contracts and a share of 13.6% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, India held the top spot with 57 contracts, followed by China with 39 and Australia with 22 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q3 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 112 contracts and a 41.3% share, followed by wind with 79 contracts and a 29.2% share and thermal with 36 contracts and a 13.3% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power contracts activity during Q3 2020, with 114 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (96) and Electricity Procurement (62).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 100 contracts and a 35% share
- Project Implementation: 85 contracts and a 29.7% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 55 contracts and a 19.2% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 25 contracts and an 8.7% share

- General Electric International (United States): 6,709MW from two contracts
- CTCI (Taiwan): 6,500MW from one contract
- Azure Power (India) and Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (China): 4,000MW capacity from one contract.
