Europe power industry contracts in July 2020: The UK leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the UK led the activity in July 2020 with 26 contracts and a share of 17.6%, up 6.3% over the previous month and up 100% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Poland with 23 contracts and a share of 15.5% and Germany with 17 contracts and a share of 11.5% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 45 contracts, followed by the UK with 13 and Spain with nine contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in July 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 48 contracts and a 53.9% share, followed by solar with 23 contracts and a 25.8% share and thermal with ten contracts and an 11.2% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in July 2020, with 43 contracts, followed by Power Plant (34) and Generation Equipment (32).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 78 contracts and a 52.7% share
- Project Implementation: 31 contracts and a 20.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 14 contracts and a 9.5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 11 contracts and a 7.4% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: nine contracts and a 6.1% share
- Electricity Supply: five contracts and a 3.4% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Netherlands): 1,518MW from one contract
- Tatenergo (Russia): 858MW from one contract
- Statkraft (Norway): 537MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Eneco Holding (Netherlands) and Royal Dutch Shell (Netherlands): 1,518MW from one contract
- ENKA Insaat ve Sanayi (Turkey): 858MW from one contract
- Seagreen Wind Energy (United Kingdom): 537MW capacity from one contract.
