South and Central America power industry contracts in July 2020: Chile leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Chile led the activity in July 2020 with seven contracts and a share of 33.3%, up 16.6% over the previous month and up 75% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Brazil with four contracts and a share of 19% and Argentina with two contracts and a share of 9.5% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, Brazil held the top spot with 11 contracts, followed by Chile with four and Argentina with four contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in July 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with seven contracts and a 36.8% share, followed by wind with seven contracts and a 36.8% share and thermal with two contracts and a 10.5% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in July 2020, with ten contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (7) and Power Plant (2).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: nine contracts and a 42.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: seven contracts and a 33.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 14.3% share
