Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in Q2 2020: China leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, China led the activity in Q2 2020 with 50 contracts and a share of 21.4%, up 5.7% over the previous quarter and up 43% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by India with 42 contracts and a share of 17.9% and Australia with 22 contracts and a share of 9.4% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, India held the top spot with 66 contracts, followed by China with 35 and Australia with 21 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q2 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 96 contracts and a 43% share, followed by wind with 64 contracts and a 28.7% share and thermal with 28 contracts and a 12.6% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power contracts activity during Q2 2020, with 98 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (94) and Electricity Procurement (31).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 92 contracts and a 39.3% share
- Project Implementation: 86 contracts and a 36.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 29 contracts and a 12.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 15 contracts and a 6.4% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 11 contracts and a 4.7% share

The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 10,400MW from nine contracts
- NHPC (India): 2,000MW from five contracts
- Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan): 1,740MW capacity from two contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Adani Green Energy (India): 8,000MW from one contract
- Altmax Holding (Cyprus): 1,500MW from one contract
- Pench Thermal Energy (MP) (India): 1,320MW capacity from one contract.
