Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of tenders for the quarter, accounting for 22 tenders and a 71% share, followed by Offshore with seven tenders and a 22.6% share. Onshore Repowered stood in third place with two tenders and a 6.5% share.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the fourth position in terms of number of tenders during Q2 2020 with a 4% share.
The proportion of tenders by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: ten tenders and a 29.4% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: eight tenders and a 23.5% share
- Supply & Erection: eight tenders and a 23.5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and an 8.8% share
- Electricity Supply: three tenders and an 8.8% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two tenders and a 5.9% share.
Europe leads wind tenders activity in Q2 2020
Comparing tenders activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 14 tenders and a share of 41.2% during Q2 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with nine tenders and a 26.5% share and North America with eight tenders and a 23.5% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with two tenders and a 5.9% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 2.9% share.
Wind technology tenders in Q2 2020: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders in Wind technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Dominion Energy (United States): 1,250MW from one tender
- The AES (United States): 1,000MW from one tender
- Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Netherlands): 700MW capacity from one tender.
