Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in April 2020: India leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, India led the activity in April 2020 with 270 tenders and a share of 75.6%, up 23.8% over the previous month and down 16% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the Philippines with 31 tenders and a share of 8.7% and Bangladesh with 15 tenders and a share of 4.2% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 322 tenders, followed by Bangladesh with 90 and the Philippines with 90 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in April 2020
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 62 tenders and a 54.4% share, followed by solar with 38 tenders and a 33.3% share and hydro with 11 tenders and a 9.6% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in April 2020, with 159 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (110) and Generation Equipment (54).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 124 tenders and a 34.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 119 tenders and a 33.3% share
- Supply & Erection: 107 tenders and a 30% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 1.1% share
- Electricity Supply: two tenders and a 0.6% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.3% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,515MW from two tenders
- Public – Private Partnership Development Agency under the Ministry of Finance (PPPDA), Bharat Heavy Electricals (India), Ministry of Energy, Uzbekistan and Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade: 100MW from one tender
- Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran (India): 45MW capacity from one tender.
