By GlobalDataVestas Northern & Central Europe president Nils de Baar said: “This order underlines the great potential in repowering older onshore turbines with new and efficient technology and how these projects can be key for Denmark to reach its ambitious target to cut emission 70% by 2030.
“With this order from our valued partner Wind Estate, we demonstrate wind energy’s competitiveness and our ability to support customers’ winning auctions.”
The new contract is the company’s fourth repowering order and stems from Denmark’s second energy-neutral auction held last year.
Additionally, Vestas has signed a ten-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
The ten V126-3.45 MW turbines will replace the existing eight 2MW NEG Micon turbines at the site.
Once commissioned, the ten wind turbines are expected to double the Overgaard II wind park’s energy production.
Vestas is also repowering the first phase of the Overgaard wind complex with 94MW of turbines.
With the completion of the two phases, the power plant’s capacity will reach 130MW.
The company noted that deliveries are planned for the third quarter of next year with commissioning to take place in the fourth quarter of the same year.
Wind Estate CEO Erik Abraham said: “Wind Estate is pleased to place another order at Vestas, consolidating the long-term corporation between the companies.
“We are excited about the opportunity to build ten wind turbines in phase two at the Overgaard project which, when all phases are built, will constitute the largest onshore wind farm in Denmark.”
