Europe power industry contracts in February 2020: France leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, France led the activity in February 2020 with 39 contracts and a share of 38.6%, up 35.8% over the previous month and up 5% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the UK with 11 contracts and a share of 10.9% and Spain with ten contracts and a share of 9.9% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 37 contracts, followed by the UK with 12 and Germany with eight contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in February 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 56 contracts and a 59.6% share, followed by wind with 19 contracts and a 20.2% share and thermal with six contracts and a 6.4% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in February 2020, with 55 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (17) and Generation Equipment (16).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 54 contracts and a 53.5% share
- Supply & Erection: 23 contracts and a 22.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 15 contracts and a 14.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 2% share
- Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 2% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- AzerEnerji JS (Azerbaijan): 1,000MW from one contract
- Solarcentury Holdings (United Kingdom): 500MW from two contracts
- BP (United Kingdom) and Lightsource BP Renewable Energy Investments (United Kingdom): 250MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Ansaldo Energia (Italy): 1,000MW from one contract
- Proyectos de Instalaciones Electricas (Spain): 500MW from two contracts
- Prodiel Proyectos de Instalaciones Electricas (Spain) and Lightsource BP Renewable Energy Investments (United Kingdom): 250MW capacity from one contract.
