Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 41 contracts and a 70.7% share, followed by Offshore with 15 contracts and a 25.9% share. Onshore Repowered stood in third place with two contracts and a 3.4% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the second position in terms of number of contracts during January 2020 with a 29.5% share.
The proportion of contracts by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 20 contracts and a 33.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 16 contracts and a 27.1% share
- Project Implementation: 15 contracts and a 25.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and a 5.1% share
- Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 5.1% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 3.4% share.
Europe leads wind contracts activity in January 2020
Comparing contracts activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 37 contracts and a share of 62.7% during January 2020, followed by North America with ten contracts and a 16.9% share and Asia-Pacific with eight contracts and a 13.6% share.
In fourth place was South and Central America with three contracts and a 5.1% share and in fifth place was Middle East and Africa with one contract and a 1.7% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Wind technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan: 400MW from one contract
- Evergy (United States): 283.1MW from two contracts
- Invenergy (United States): 250MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Abu Dhabi Future Energy (United Arab Emirates): 400MW from one contract
- Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives (United States): 250MW from one contract
- ACWA Power International (Saudi Arabia): 240MW capacity from one contract.
