North America power industry tenders in January 2020: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in January 2020 with 112 tenders and a share of 77.8%, down 4.2% over the previous month and up 9% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 32 tenders and a share of 22.2%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 103 tenders, followed by Canada with 36.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in January 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 47 tenders and an 82.5% share, followed by solar with eight tenders and a 14% share and hydro with one tender and a 1.8% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in January 2020, with 74 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (50) and Energy Storage (14).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 112 tenders and a 77.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 21 tenders and a 14.6% share
  3. Project Implementation: five tenders and a 3.5% share
