Engie and GCC-Lab recently signed a memorandum of understanding geared towards improving the quality of services in Saudi Arabia’s electricity sector.
France-headquartered Engie and GCC-Lab, a Riyadh-based electrical testing laboratory, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in order to help improve the quality of services in Saudi Arabia and the GCC region’s electricity sector.
The services covered by the MoU are:
- Multi-disciplinary root cause failure analysis
- Oil testing
- Cybersecurity
- Alarm management
- Emission reduction services
- Electromagnetic compatibility
- Lighting testing lab
- Maintenance interval services
- Power plant water chemistry
- Materials and non-destructive testing
- Turbomachinery
“The vision is to enable the environment of expertise that complement services with solution-driven laboratories within the kingdom,” a joint statement said.
The two firms also plan to co-invest in an advanced vibration monitoring command centre and non-polymer additive manufacturing, as well as smart home and smart grid projects to help minimise carbon dioxide emissions and energy consumption in Saudi Arabia.
The specific timeline and budgets for these initiatives have not yet been finalised, according to Turki AlShehri, CEO of Engie in Saudi Arabia.
