Siemens has secured a gas turbines supply contract from RUE Vitebskenergo, a state-owned power utility company in the Republic of Belarus.
Siemens has agreed to supply five SGT-800 gas turbines from its factory in Finspång, Sweden. The Siemens power generation equipment will also include generators, gas receiving stations, booster compressors, high-medium-low voltage equipment and the PCS7 control system.
The gas turbines will be installed at the new 150MW peaking power station at the Lukomlskaya plant and at 100MW peaking power station at the Novopolotskaya plant.
Siemens Gas and Power Europe and CIS Power Generation head Olaf Kreyenberg said: “Siemens has a broad range of energy solutions that supports the optimisation of the energy mix for our customers.
“We are committed to supporting the decarbonisation strategy in Belarus by complementing the grid with our highly efficient and flexible peaker plants that will help ensure the reliability and stability of the power generation system in the country.”
The upgrade will operate in conjunction with the existing Lukomlskaya and Novopolotskaya power plants, with the new gas turbine plants improving the Belarusian power grid’s reliability and flexibility, and provide fast peaking power.
