North America power industry contracts in Q3 2019: The US leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the US led the activity in Q3 2019 with 122 contracts and a share of 89.7%, up 0.8% over the previous quarter and down 10% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Mexico with nine contracts and a share of 6.6% and Canada with four contracts and a share of 2.9% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, the US held the top spot with 136 contracts, followed by Canada with 11 and Mexico with eight contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q3 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 54 contracts and a 41.2% share, followed by wind with 52 contracts and a 39.7% share and thermal with 15 contracts and an 11.5% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in North America power contracts activity during Q3 2019, with 52 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (44) and Power Plant (33).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 49 contracts and a 36% share
- Supply & Erection: 43 contracts and a 31.6% share
- Project Implementation: 26 contracts and a 19.1% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 11 contracts and an 8.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 2.9% share
- Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 2.2% share.
