South and Central America power industry contracts in Q3 2019: Argentina leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Argentina led the activity in Q3 2019 with 42 contracts and a share of 67.7%, up 60.3% over the previous quarter and up 200% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Chile with eight contracts and a share of 12.9% and Brazil with four contracts and a share of 6.5% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, Brazil held the top spot with 35 contracts, followed by Argentina with 14 and Chile with six contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q3 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 24 contracts and a 40% share, followed by wind with 15 contracts and a 25% share and biopower with nine contracts and a 15% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in South and Central America power contracts activity during Q3 2019, with 43 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (9) and Generation Equipment (9).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 44 contracts and a 71% share
- Supply & Erection: eight contracts and a 12.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: five contracts and an 8.1% share
- Electricity Supply: four contracts and a 6.5% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 1.6% share.
