North America power industry tenders in Q2 2019: The US leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in Q2 2019 with 459 tenders and a share of 73.8%, up 3.4% over the previous quarter and up 30% when compared with the last four-quarter average.
In second place was Canada with 163 tenders and a share of 26.2%.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, the US held the top spot with 353 tenders, followed by Canada with 93 and Puerto Rico with one tender.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q2 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, Thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 292 tenders and a 73.9% share, followed by Solar with 65 tenders and a 16.5% share and Hydro with 15 tenders and a 3.8% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in North America power tenders activity during Q2 2019, with 299 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (194) and Energy Storage (53).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection with 416 tenders and a 66.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others with 130 tenders and a 20.9% share
- Project Implementation with 57 tenders and a 9.2% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
- Fitchburg Gas and Electric Light (United States), Nantucket Electric (United States) and NSTAR Electric (United States) with 800MW from one tender
