Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in Q2 2019: India leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, India led the activity in Q2 2019 with 949 tenders and a share of 52.5%, down 0.9% over the previous quarter and up 9% when compared with the last four-quarter average.
In second place was the Philippines with 273 tenders and a share of 15.1% and in third place was Bangladesh with 238 tenders and a share of 13.2% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, India held the top spot with 868 tenders, followed by Bangladesh with 300 and the Philippines with 221 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q2 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, Thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 314 tenders and a 50.7% share, followed by Solar with 233 tenders and a 37.6% share and Hydro with 55 tenders and an 8.9% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power tenders activity during Q2 2019, with 796 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (442) and Generation Equipment (314).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation with 670 tenders and a 37.1% share
- Supply & Erection with 591 tenders and a 32.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others with 493 tenders and a 27.3% share.
Power tenders in Q2 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India) with 10,806MW from eight tenders
- NTPC (India) with 2,187.03MW from six tenders
- Department of Electricity Development (Nepal) with 1,663.1MW capacity from seven tenders.
